I discovered you a few weeks ago via a search for stations that play the YellowJackets, of which there are few. I was raised on Big Band, Bop, Cool, Blues ... jazz, and in recent years I've also come to love Latin and a few other things, one of which is the YellowJackets. I was raised in the church and appreciate the neat arrangements of various "church tunes" that you sprinkle in as well. Thank you for your station! -- Carl McMullen

The Christian Jazz Artists Network celebrates and promotes the diversity and infinite variety of Jazz music! Our Creator loves diversity and so should we! Within the framework of jazz music there is room for a myriad of styles and influences. Therefore we do not promote one style of jazz only. Neither do we discriminate on this basis either. Instead, we encourage and promote having an open heart, mind, and attitude of acceptance and appreciation for the creativity and musical ideas of others!

SpiritJazz is a group that combines the elements essential for modern jazz with the best hymns of the Christian tradition. The result is a large repertoire of songs that are represented here on this recording, and played regularly at churches.

Tom Pieper plays bass and Karen Pieper plays piano. They work together to create their own unique jazz arrangements of hymns and songs... performed with energy, passion, and humor.

The music of SpiritJazz is modern in its truest form but its melodies are derived from familiar songs and hymns that have stood the test of time. It is their mission that the music of SpiritJazz unites the richness of jazz with the hope and promise of faith in order to enhance each melody's original meaning. For more info visit here!
