Martin Richards

saxophones & flute

Martin Richards was born and brought up in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Inspired to take up clarinet after seeing the film The Benny Goodman Story, he soon began to play tenor sax, running his own four, five and six piece bands, playing numerous jazz venues and even starting his own jazz club.

He has played all over the UK, much of Europe and Japan and the Far East, doing live radio, TV and recording work. He has worked on the QE2 as a musician and other cruise ships before freelancing in the cabaret clubs, hotels and theatres of London's West End. He has played with 'THE BIRKBECK SAXOPHONE QUARTET', 'THE LONDON JAZZ BIG BAND' and 'THE WILLY GARNET BIG BAND' as well as many other combos, and played as a featured artist in jazz clubs around the capital.

Becoming a Christian in 1982, Martin became one of the founder members of Follys End Church/Croydon where was a leader until 2005, serving the church in a variety of pastoral capacities, and developing into prophetic ministry. He came into full time ministry in 2000, is gifted and called as a prophet, and is an anointed prophetic worship musician and artist. He has a heart to see God use music and the creative arts prophetically, and has experienced many instances when the Holy Spirit has touched lives whilst he has played.

He has produced his own CD and published his first book entitled "Why God Planted A Vineyard - prophetic insight for today's Church" (Available through this site - "resources" page). For the last six years he and his wife Janice have run a School of Prophecy in Croydon, and established PIT Stop, a gathering for local area prophets. Recently he has begun to travel in prophetic ministry, visiting such places as Finland, the Czech Republic, France, and Spain. He and Janice have three grown up children.
